The next Filmforum will take place online:
May 06 - 16, 2021
With 30 films stretched over the course of 10 Days, our 2021 festival program will take a closer look at everyday lives, working conditions, experiences of migration, the consequences of economic growth and questions of diverse cultural identities. Interspersed throughout the main programme, our students’ platform will showcase carefully selected current, debut films from all over the globe that are deeply personal, sensitive and engaged.
For the first time, this year’s online edition allows us to watch and discuss films simultaneously from various corners of the world, which has resulted in the addition of an exciting new facet to the festival: #FIFOJUNCTIONS! Partnering with DAP, Documentary Association Pakistan and our friends from DocuBox in Nairobi, Kenia, we want to use this opportunity to screen films simultaneously in these locations and discuss them from multiple perspectives. You are more than invited to join these discussions from wherever you are, as we expect our selection to be available from most countries.
This year’s unique situation calls on us to translate the character of our forum into the digital realm. All of our films, panels, and online discussions will be live streamed from the cinema hall to your digital screens @ home. Focussing on live stream, online conversations with our filmmakers as well as Watchgroups in different parts of the world, we seek to create ways of coming together, connecting and exchanging that go beyond just on-demand cinema.
The festival program and advance ticket sales will be available on our homepage by the end of April.
