Ivan Komen­dan­tov is only 16 years old, but he is a ded­i­cat­ed com­mu­nist and sec­re­tary of ide­ol­o­gy at the com­mu­nist youth organ­i­sa­tion Kom­so­mol in Moscow. He wants to become an adult quick­ly and can´t even be dis­heart­ened by cri­tique from his supe­ri­ors on his overea­ger­ness. So he enthu­si­as­ti­cal­ly takes up any task: whether it be the rise of Russia in the world econ­o­my or the spe­cial chal­lenge to be in a rela­tion­ship with a girl.

Film­mak­er Yuriy Pivo­varov suc­ceeds to estab­lish an unusu­al and respect­ful close­ness to this strong-willed and unshak­en young man, that allows us dive deeply into the protagonist’s world – a world of ide­ol­o­gy and of a day­dream of Russia’s com­mu­nist past.
