MEIO tells a story of the consequences of migration on different generations. The 83-year-old Lina lives with her husband in the small town Vila Rica (originally Vila Rickert), situated in a rural area around Presidente Lucena in Brasil. Many people of her generation living in this area can only speak the German dialect Hunsrückisch and have difficulties communicating with their grandchildren. The younger generation hardly speaks any German, since they have grown up speaking Portuguese as their first language. MEIO is a documentary that raises questions about identity and biographies and about understanding differences between generations and cultural ideas of daily life.
