Two Internships at the Freiburger Filmforum - Festival of Transcultural Cinema

1. Social media and public relations internship (February - June 2025)

The expansion of the festival into digital spaces requires an even stronger presence in the social media landscape and a serious commitment to digital public relations. To strengthen our team in this area, we are seeking an intern. As a social media and digital public relations intern, you will contribute creative ideas and offer energetic support to attract the best audience possible to our festival. Being an organised, independent person who can also work well in a team, you will plan and create social media campaigns and our website’s design as well as expand the outreach to the festival’s network of institutions, stakeholders, and audience members in Freiburg and internationally. Additionally, you can get involved in other areas of festival organisation according to your own interests and experience.

Your daily tasks will involve:
* planning and implementing social media campaigns to create a lively and meaningful presence on social media as well as strengthen public relations
* creating a social media calendar, coordinating and scheduling daily/weekly posts on Instagram, Facebook, and through our newsletter
* copywriting for various social media platforms in English
* working with image editing software (Photoshop / InDesign) to adapt our design to fit different platforms and formats
* general festival assistance in other areas of work according to your interests and skills

We are looking for someone who has:
* passion for and experience with social media (Instagram, Facebook, Vimeo) and fluency in creating posts, stories, or campaigns — or the willingness to familiarize yourself with this area independently
* experience with image editing software such as Photoshop, Gimp or InDesign and a strong sense of layout and visual design (some experience in video editing would be a plus)
* confidence and creativity in formulating appealing, creative copy in English
* ambition to contribute creative ideas and to execute them both independently and in collaboration with team members

2. Organisation and coordination (February - June 2025)

As our curatorial work is already at an advanced stage, we will soon be focusing more on organisational tasks. We are therefore seeking an intern to strengthen our team in this area. We are looking for someone who enjoys organising and has a good feel for work processes to ensure the smooth preparation and implementation of the festival. You like to take on responsibility and don’t mind having lots of tasks on your mind at the same time. As an independent person that also likes to work in a team, you will be involved in a variety of tasks. From preparing the programme announcement and compiling information for the festival catalogue to coordinating the festival office during the film week. Additionally, you can get involved in other areas of the festival according to your own interests and experience.

Your daily tasks will involve:
* Assisting the team with organisational tasks before and during the festival
* Assistance in the creation of the festival catalogue, including text editing and research for press materials
* Coordinating the festival office during the festival week
* Being a contact person for our volunteers
* Assisting with tasks related to our Content Management System
* Providing general festival support based on your skills and interests

We are looking for someone who:
* has a passion for and/or experience in organisational tasks and excellent communication skills
* is reliable and confident in working with text, as well as proficient in Word and Excel
* has a strong command of English, both written and spoken
* is ambitious about handling organisational tasks and contributing creative ideas, executing them both independently and as part of a team
* can adapt quickly and handle stress well, especially in the intense period leading up to and during the festival

Both internships start (Mid-)February and last until June 15, 2025. Please send your application with a CV and a letter of motivation to info@freiburger-filmforum.de by February 10th at the latest.

With us you will:
* get an in-depth look behind the scenes of an internationally renowned film festival and learn how a film festival is planned, organised and curated
* contribute and expand your talents and skills in a diverse team and learn new skills in the field of organisation and coordination
* bring your knowledge of film, anthropology, media/cultural studies or related subjects into practice

The internship is paid on a mini-job basis. Please note that not all of the above requirements have to apply to you. We look forward to receiving your application.

With best wishes,
the Freiburger Filmforum team
