Our spe­cial guest Marie-Helene Cousineau (left) is the found­ing Coor­di­na­tor of Tar­ri­ak­suk Video Centre estab­lished in 1991. Cousineau formed the col­lec­tive Arnait Ika­jur­tigi­it (Women’s Video Work­shop), and is its coordinator/trainer as well as an active col­lab­o­rat­ing pro­duc­er with Mary Kunuk, Made­line Ivalu and Susan Avin­gaq. Cousineau has curat­ed sev­er­al exhi­bi­tions of work from Tar­ri­ak­suk and writ­ten about the expe­ri­ences of women making video in Igloo­lik. She has received four Canada Coun­cil video pro­duc­tion grants and a B Grant, and her video work is widely exhib­it­ed. With an MFA in Com­mu­ni­ca­tions from Uni­ver­si­ty of Iowa. Cousineau was also asso­ciate pro­fes­sor of Com­mu­ni­ca­tions at Con­cor­dia Uni­ver­si­ty in Mon­tréal (1997-1999).
