Ethno-fic­tion: The soci­o­log­i­cal por­trait of a little vil­lage in Bel­gium and the pas­sion of its inhab­i­tants for ama­teur the­atre. In 1895 the the­atre group ‘Les amis du plaisir’ was found­ed. Its direc­tor is Néry Lefèvre, farmer and mayor. The center of social life is the café ‘Le Palace’. In it’s hall the rehearsal of a play from Paris takes place. During the per­for­mance the mayor’s cow gives birth to a calf.
