And that includes giving the people I have filmed the chance to watch these films later.” Using this concept of “cinéma vérité” Jean Rouch, born in 1917, goes to work behind the camera. A master of ethnographical films, he has shot around 120 films. Encounters between different African cultures, and the meeting of black and white cultures play a central role in Rouch´s cinematic works.
